Quantum Day on Val 202 and at the Jožef Stefan Institute

Apr 16, 2025 | Event

On the occasion of the World Quantum Day, celebrated on April 16, 2025, a live radio broadcast was held at the Gallery of the Jožef Stefan Institute from 10:00 to 13:30, in collaboration with Val 202. Journalist Maja Ratej and physicist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lev Vidmar, SQUASH advisor in the field of Quantum many-body physics, together with several invited guests – including SQUASH project coordinator Prof. Dr. Andrej Zorko, and advisors Prof. Dr. Rok Žitko and Dr. Peter Jeglič – presented diverse aspects of quantum science to the public.

The conversation highlighted the fundamental role of quantum theory as the foundation of modern technologies, such as quantum cryptography, quantum teleportation, photonic technologies, and various other applications. Special attention was given to the centenary of a milestone moment in the history of science: the derivation of the laws of modern quantum physics by the German physicist Werner Heisenberg.
