Gašper Tavčar is the head of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Technology K1 at the Jožef Stefan Institute. He is a member of several scientific advisory boards in Slovenia and around the world.
His primary interest lies in the synthesis of new compounds, where he utilizes various synthetic methods in an inert atmosphere. His research covers a wide range of topics in coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, and chemical technology, along with characterization techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray single crystal diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and IR spectroscopy. With these methods, he aims to design compounds with desired properties. The goal of his research is the synthesis of new molecular magnets based on lanthanides.
