Quantum technologies, one of the main research fields at the Jožef Stefan Institute, which exploit the unique principles of quantum physics to achieve breakthroughs in computing, communications and sensing. Quantum cryptography, for instance, allows for perfectly secure information transfer that cannot be intercepted, and complex problems that would require classical supercomputers millions of years to solve can be processed within seconds by quantum computers.
The Jožef Stefan Institute is therefore very proud to have been awarded the SQUASH project – Slovenian Quantum Science Hub.
You are kindly invited to
THE PRESENTATION OF THE SQUASH PROJECT,
on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 at 14.30
in the large lecture room at Jamova 39, Ljubljana.
The event will feature presentations of the project and its significance, delivered by:
- Dr. Boštjan Zalar, Director of the Jožef Stefan Institute
- Dr. Igor Papič, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation
- Dr. Rok Žitko, JSI: How will quantum technologies change the future?
- Dr. Andrej Zorko, JSI: Presentation of the SQUASH project
- Dr. Anton Ramšak, FMF UL: FMF UL Cooperation
Following the presentation, please join us for a reception.
An internal presentation for project participants will commence at 15.30.
We look forward to welcoming you!

SQUASH, the Slovenian Quantum Science Hub, is an ambitious project led by the Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia’s central research institution, aimed at positioning Slovenia as a leader in the quantum technology field within the highly competitive international environment. The Institute’s objective is to boost research excellence and international competitiveness by means of hiring 40 outstanding postdoctoral researchers from around the world to advance the fields of quantum sciences and technologies. SQUASH, a 5-year project co-funded by the European Commission and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Slovenia, is a joint effort of 45 distinguished academic and non-academic associate partners from Slovenia, Europe and beyond, and the University of Ljubljana as the implementing partner.
