Mirela Dragomir is a Research Associate at JSI (K5) and an Assistant Professor in Materials Science at the IPS. At JSI, she is also the co-founder of Extreme Conditions Chemistry Laboratory – ECCL, focusing on high-pressure studies of quantum materials. As a Marie Curie Fellow, her research focused on the synthesis and crystal growth of low-dimensional spin systems. Among other professional functions, she serves as Secretary of the Division of Solid State and Materials Chemistry at the European Chemical Society (EuChemS).
Mirela carried out postdoctoral research in Canada, where she worked on frustrated magnetism and superconductivity. Her current research focuses on the synthesis and crystal growth of emergent quantum materials based on oxides and fluorides. She also specializes in their structural and magnetic characterization using synchrotron X-ray and neutron diffraction. Passionate about outreach, she participates in science festivals, actively engaging with the public to inspire the next generation of scientists, and promotes public understanding of science.
