With the participation of Dr. Igor Papič, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and Dr. Anton Ramšak, Vice-Rector for Research and Development at the University of Ljubljana and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Director of the Jožef Stefan Institute Dr. Boštjan Zalar, together with colleagues Dr. Andrej Zorko and Dr. Rok Žitko, introduced an ambitious new project led by the Slovenia’s leading scientific research institution, the “Jožef Stefan” Institute – the Slovenian Quantum Science Hub (SQUASH). This five-year project, set to launch on March 1 2025, is intended to significantly enhance the institute’s research excellence and global competitiveness in quantum sciences and technologies, a priority focus of the institute. It aims to position Slovenia as a significant international leader in this field.
The project is co-financed by the European Commission and the Slovenian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. It will employ 40 promising PhD holders from around the world and unite 47 prestigious academic and non-academic partners from 18 countries.
