Prof. Primož Pelicon is head of the Department of low and intermediate energy physics at Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI). He spent his entire professional career working with ion accelerators, their technical and scientific management, beamline construction and spectroscopy system installations. High energy focused ion beams have been his professional objects of interest for the last 25 years. He recently managed the construction of high energy ion nanobeam at JSI, which is currently one of the most capable devices of its kind, enabling the nanopatterned implantation of single heavy ions for the formation of isolated quantum centres in materials, such as diamond and silicon carbide.
