Tome Eftimov is a researcher at the Computer Systems Department at JSI and an assistant professor of computer science at SEB UL, JSIPS, and FCSE at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. He leads a research group focused on automated machine learning and optimization and serves as the project coordinator for the HE ERA-Chair project, “AutoLearn-SI,” which aims to establish Slovenia as a hub of research excellence in the development of AutoML and AutoOpt techniques.
His research interests include metaheuristics, representation learning, meta-learning, and explainable machine learning. In his work, he invents and develops methods for trustworthy AI benchmarking. The primary goal of his research is to develop methods that provide explanations about how AI algorithms operate, rather than treating them as black boxes.
