Uroš Cvelbar is a full professor and head of the Department of Gaseous Electronics (F6) at the JSI and chairman of the Postgraduate Programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Jožef Stefan Postgraduate School. He works part-time as a professor and teaches mainly postgraduate courses in Ljubljana and at other European universities (also as co-chair of the Erasmus Mundus programme “Greenano”), but also outside the EU. He is a member of the ECS Board of the Division for Dielectric Science and Technology, Chairman of the Plasma Nanoscience Society, Erudite Professor in India and Visiting Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Vice President of the Club of Rome (Slovenian Association), Fellow of WAAS (World Academy of Arts and Sciences), etc.
His main research interest lies in quantum materials, systems and plasmas. His research covers everything from plasma systems, use of single atoms, atom-by-atom design on large scale, generalised systems in plasma physics, nanomaterials, quantum phenomena in nanomaterials, plasmon phenomena, topological insulators to material analytics mainly with SEM, TEM, AFM, XPS, NEXAFS, FTIR, UV-Vis-NIR, Raman spectroscopy and SERS, but not limited.
